If I am of the opinion that this record (Is This It?) is one of the best to have been released in “recent” times, does that mean I’m getting old? Just realised it’s over 10 years old…eeek!
The Strokes - Someday
My friend got me thinking about 2007. That year is particularly special to me, as I really think that more than any other year, it really defined me. It was the year that Ungdomshuset on Jagtvej 69 came to be no more (the picture below shows one of the riots that broke out. Heartbreak); the year that I as a relatively young girl dipped my feet into the hustle and bustle of the music industry; the year I moved to Edinburgh.
I was trying to figure out what was my favourite song from 2007, but the truth is, I’m too spoiled for choice to make a decision. Instead, I chose The Kissaway Trail - Smother + Evil = Hurt (the video I’ve chosen isn’t the one that Bella Union decided to make for them for the UK, but their own homemade version, that they had on MySpace) It’s not my favourite, BUT I did have one of the best afterparties I’ve ever attended following their show at Templet in the spring. They also happen to be rather relevant right now, as I hear whispers of a new album (which I am MUCH looking forward to).

My new (old) super cool Motobecane road bike! Haven’t had a bike since I moved from Copenhagen to Bristol - GAWD I’m excited.
I get myself ever so excited everytime something/something gives props to my little home nation, and thus I can’t say how pleased I am that people outside Denmark, are finally starting to discover Choir Of Young Believers.
I know some people are going to disagree on this, but I definitely feel like aside from London (which happens in waves, let’s be honest, and the tide is out at the moment), Copenhagen has the most exciting music scene in Europe. Weyhey!

Also, check this little video out. Some of the members of COYB participate in the so-called Copenhagen Collaboration - all musicians you MUST watch if you like your jeans black and skinny, your men poetic, and your labels independent. I’ve posted it before, but with this one I don’t think there’s such a thing as too many times, wouldn’t you agree?
